Harold David Berry, 77, left this life for his Heavenly home Feb. 1, 2008.

Services will be at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel at 1 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2008, with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Harold was born April 12, 1930, to W.D. and Ima Berry, in Abilene. The family moved to Big Spring and Harold graduated high school there in 1948. He played scholarship baseball at several colleges and became a Marine in 1952. After an honorable discharge, he attended Texas Tech University.

He married Jean Findley in 1964 and for years made his living drilling wells. He began disability retirement in 1983.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jeanne Beth Winton. Those lucky enough to know and cherish this remarkable husband, father and brother are his wife, Jean; daughter, Karen D. Berry; and son, Larry Winton and wife Oressa, all of Lubbock; son, Steve Winton, of Windsor, Calif.; brother, John L. Berry and wife Sandra of Tyler; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Harold devoted countless hours supporting and helping out the Tech baseball team. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was inducted into the Big Spring High School Sports Hall of Fame.

He loved his family and was adored by them. Harold was a longtime member of Monterey Baptist Church. The family suggests contributions to the church's general fund, or to Texas Tech Baseball.

The family will receive visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008.
